The main reasons were an increase in sales of digital products coupled with an increase in sales of films to emerging countries, which exceeded the decline in sales in Japan. As shown in the operating income analysis, positive factors such as an increase in sales volumes, cost reductions and the effect of foreign exchange rates covered an increase in expenses to drive growth as well as negative factors such as price change, resulting in the increase in operating income.
