Full-year results for the Healthcare Business show revenue of ¥89.9 billion, and when the forex impact is excluded, this means a 6% increase year on year. Operating profit was ¥2.9 billion, which with the forex impact excluded, means an increase of 19% in profits.
The focus was placed on expanding sales of digital X-ray diagnostic imaging system Digital Radiography (DR) products, diagnostic ultrasound systems, and medical IT, which are the three core digital elements of the business. The annual result was double-digit growth in digital sales year on year, while analog sales showed a 10% decrease. The year was therefore marked by an accelerated shift to digital.
In the US, amendments to the payment system for medical services were accompanied by slowing sales in Computed Radiography (CR). However, DR and ultrasound achieved significantly increased sales over the previous year. Looking by region, last year's acquisition of Viztek brought growth in sales in the US, where revenue at the same level as in the previous year was secured despite the strong yen.
