Structural Reform Expenses and Impact on 1Q Operating Profit

As a consequence of the structural reforms at the Company in Japan, extraordinary expenses of ¥2 billion were posted. This represents part of the structural reform to improve its earning power mentioned in the Medium Term Business Plan, and was implemented with the aim of achieving a qualitative shift in human resources. This will not continue beyond 2Q and expenses associated with this initiative will not be recorded after the end of June. The effects of this program from 2Q onward are estimated to come to ¥1.5 billion this fiscal year.
In addition, the "Other income / expenses" item includes ¥2 billion in special extra retirement payments plus the ¥1.5 billion in gains on sales of the glass substrate for HDDs business in fiscal 2014, for a total of ¥3.5 billion.
