Radiant Vision Systems, LLC is a US company with a strong position in the so-called light-source color measurement market. Headquartered in Seattle, its business is measurement systems for display products. While revenue for the previous fiscal year was a modest ¥4.5 billion, the company boasts a market share of about 20%. Because of its location on the west coast, Radiant has extremely close relationships with display industry clients, particularly major US IT industry companies in the area. Such clients have manufacturing sites in Asia and, for example, in China, so naturally Radiant, as a global company, also has bases in China and Asia.
As a result of this acquisition, we foresee an excellent chance of success in the display measurement segment of the light-source color market. In future we believe this will lead to significant opportunities in the automated inspection market, such as in the automotive exterior and trim industry. Our growth target for the Groupfs measuring instruments operations is ¥50 billion in revenue by fiscal 2018.
