3-2. Maximize Profitability by Product by Introducing PLM

In this part I will talk about introducing product life cycle management, or PLM, to cut production costs. Until now, we have managed profitability in yearly units by setting targets for each function. In fiscal year 2013, we started to visualize profitability across each product's life cycle. Now we examine and implement profit-maximizing measures across all functions. Management participates in this process. For example, imagine that we are trying to make it possible to install large MFPs in half the current time. This requires taking measures beginning at the MFP design stage. To do that, our sales and development teams have to consider measures that go beyond their own functions. We have already begun such initiatives in the Business Technologies Business, but now we plan to do likewise throughout the Group.
