Shift to highly profitable system taking advantage of advance preparations

The situation regarding the overall contribution to profits in three years' time in fiscal 2019 is shown here, but in order to ensure that "new" and "growth" fields will become a significant base for Konica Minolta's profits by fiscal 2017, we will take five years to proceed with this. The business domains for the new fields and growth fields are shown on the right-hand side. From management's perspective, it is entirely natural that we should show the tangible fruit of our efforts and the results of the journey in three years' time.
Over the next three years, there are domains in which further preparations aimed at a point five years in the future are needed, and in order to support the profit of the whole company during this period, it is extremely important to consider how we can raise the earnings power of the "core" businesses over those three years. Recovering investments in preparations made thus far, or going through another stage of preparations in order to generate a major contribution in five years' time, while at the same time raising the earnings power of the "core"; this is the thought process behind the new Medium Term Business Plan.
