Cumulative revenue achieved over nine months amounts to ¥155.0 billion, an increase of 5% year on year, while operating profit totals ¥5.1 billion, a 25% decrease year on year. In the three months of 3Q alone we did see increases in both revenue and profit.
We will look first at the production print business unit. As shown in the slide just now, the value provided by the intelligent quality optimizer “IQ-501,” which is equipped with proprietary Konica Minolta functionality for automatically controlling output, helping to make the workflow of printing operations more efficient, has been widely accepted by customers. This has served as a factor in further differentiating Konica Minolta from the competition. Our top-end digital color printing system, the “AccurioPress C6100” series, is the subject of sales discussions on the commercial printing market, but the discussions have been prolonged so that the full-scale contribution to profit from these products will be put off until 4Q and beyond. However, we have been building up the sales networks to expand sales of the “AccurioPress C6100” series in Japan, the US, and Europe, and sales are being accelerated from 4Q.
In marketing services, we have seen continuing constraints on marketing budgets among major customers. However, the number of projects acquired increased in 3Q, and we are showing a recovery trend. Kinko’s has been expanding its outlets in Japan and is maintaining favorable conditions in both the retail and corporate businesses.
Industrial printing has continued expanding significantly. Sales of the “AccurioJet KM-1” and of the digital decoration printing equipment and label printing equipment manufactured by MGI have been expanding, primarily in Europe and North America.
