The joint venture company will begin operation around May 2017, and the plan that has been jointly agreed upon calls for it to go into the black on a yearly basis in fiscal 2019. In the mid- to long-term, we are aiming at revenues of 25 billion yen or more.
This 25 billion yen will be generated primarily from the focus target markets described above, but in the area of automotive lighting, there is demand from customers who would like to use OLED not only in tail lamps but also in interior automotive trim due to the special quality of OLED light, so it is our intention to continuously pursue the possibilities of OLED with the aim of achieving more than the 25 billion yen target.
Although the OLED business will be carried out as a joint venture, over the mid-term we will move ahead independently in businesses such as the high-performance barrier film necessary for OLED lighting, which is currently undergoing technology development and which will in future be developed for use in markets other than lighting, as well our OLED materials businesses, including the display business.
